Navistar Asia cultivates precision farming success with a unified digital platform from Innobayt
Navistar Asia, a leading Agrotech innovator, specializes in precision farming services—including soil sampling, weather forecasting, and air quality monitoring. However, their field operations were constrained by fragmented tools, manual processes, and limited visibility—slowing project turnaround and increasing operational costs.
To solve these challenges, Navistar Asia partnered with Innobayt to build a unified digital platform that consolidates every step of their soil sampling and weather monitoring workflow—from UAV data processing to field execution and lab reporting. The result: faster service delivery, greater accuracy, and a 30% increase in project volume.
The Challenge
Before the transformation, Navistar Asia relied on disconnected tools and labor-intensive workflows:
Manual farmland surveys and hand-drawn grids made field planning inefficient.
Disjointed software systems fragmented operations and made collaboration difficult.
No real-time tracking, leading to sample mix-ups, reporting delays, and customer dissatisfaction.
Lack of field visibility, making it hard to optimize tractor movement or monitor driver performance.
Separate weather systems, which weren’t integrated with customer reports or field data.
Scaling limitations, especially for large farms spanning several hectares.
These inefficiencies limited Navistar Asia’s ability to scale, delayed lab processing, and made high-quality precision farming difficult to maintain.
The Solution
Innobayt developed an end-to-end digital platform that connects UAV data, GIS mapping, tractor routing, sample tracking, and weather monitoring into one seamless experience—for both Navistar employees and their farmer customers.
1. End-to-End Workflow Digitization
Orthophoto Upload: High-resolution GeoTIFF maps from drones are uploaded, allowing users to draw field boundaries, label crop types, and exclude unusable areas like ponds or trees.
Smart Grid Generation: The system automatically divides fields into sampling grids and creates randomized, GPS-based sampling points.
AI Route Optimization: An AI engine generates optimal tractor routes, reducing overlaps and minimizing fuel usage.
2. Field Execution via Mobile App
Android App for Drivers: Real-time navigation to sample points with geofencing alerts and manual rerouting options to avoid obstacles.
Wintex Integration: Soil samples are recorded using SONOFF-enabled digital switches for precision logging.
QR-Based Sample Tracking: Zebra ZQ 500 printers generate unique QR labels, tracked from field to lab.
3. Centralized Sample & Weather Data Management
Lab Workflow: Sample bags are scanned with DataLogic DS 457 scanners, and lab teams upload test results to the same platform.
Weather Station Integration: Real-time data from DAVIS Vantage Pro2, Vantage Vue, and AirLink devices are visualized in dashboards and included in customer reports.
4. Real-Time GIS Visualization
Interactive Mapping: Built using QGIS, OpenLayers, and GeoServer, the platform enables interactive overlays, grid views, and analysis-ready data visualizations.
Technology stack
Mobile App: Kotlin (Android), Mapbox
Backend: Python Django, Node.js, QGIS, GeoServer, LoRaWAN
Frontend: React, OpenLayers, OSM basemaps
Database: PostGIS, InfluxDB
Visualization: Grafana
Hardware: Zebra ZQ 500 printers, SONOFF switches, DataLogic DS 457 scanners, DAVIS weather & air quality sensors
Business Impact
Navistar Asia saw measurable improvements across operational efficiency, cost savings, and customer experience:
Survey & grid time: 60% faster, enabling faster project start
Sample accuracy: 95% fewer mix-ups, improving lab reliability
Driver productivity: 40% increase with optimized AI routes
Processing time: Reduced from 7 days to 3 days (57% faster)
Project volume: 30% increase in completed jobs annually, adding $500K in revenue
Customer satisfaction: 20% boost in retention with real-time tracking and weather visibility
